I Need to Call My Mother

AI safety

Use AI to organize accounts and reflect on memories. You decide what to keep and approve in your book.

What AI can do

AI helps organize submitted material. In memorial mode, replies must rely on approved accounts and show their sources. An AI interpretation is not a memory or a statement from the person being remembered. Check the result before approving it.

What it cannot do

AI is not your mother and does not speak for a living or deceased person. It must not invent memories, imitate a real voice, offer diagnoses or medical, psychological, legal or financial advice, or create a sexual or romantic relationship. Models can make mistakes; report inappropriate replies.

Access and choice

AI conversation requires a signed-in account, confirmation that you are at least 18, and explicit acknowledgment of the notice. A mother’s contribution link does not unlock this feature. You can disable it in conversation settings.

When there are signs of crisis

New messages undergo safety checks. When risk signals are detected, the persona conversation pauses and human support contacts appear. Resuming requires your choice; safety checks remain active. If the safety service fails, AI must not generate a reply.

We do not monitor conversations in real time. This website and our email are not emergency services. In immediate danger, contact emergency services in the country where you are.

Privacy and your controls

In conversation settings, choose chat retention: 30, 90 or 365 days, or until you delete it. You can delete the conversation and disable AI. Deleting chat does not delete the book’s original accounts. The reading voice is synthetic.
